Travis Pickens '15, B.S.B.A. with a minor in Flight Management, B.S. in Aerospace Operations
“Ever since I was 8 years old, I’ve been fascinated by the idea of heavy objects flying through the sky.”
It all started with a grade-school flight to Washington, D.C. Travis struck up a conversation with the pilot, and that turned into a visit to the cockpit – and a lifelong fascination with flight.
On the Eastman campus, Travis is president of the collegiate chapter of the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals (OBAP), which mentors incoming students and offers networking opportunities.
“We’re here to help people navigate the program. We hold a convention every year, with all the major national and regional airlines represented. You can get hired right on the spot!”
As for his plans after graduation?
“I hope to be a role model for future students. I see myself working for a regional airline, teaching and serving as a pilot in the Air Force Reserve.
“I don’t really have a preference for one airline over another. As long as I’m flying, I’m happy.”
