Fitness and Wellness

Middle Georgia State University offers a wide variety of fitness and wellness programs. Whether you want to learn more about healthy living, enjoy some great wellness related programs, or even join in on one of our many group fitness classes, we have just what you are looking for.

Wellness Center

Middle Georgia State University offers a state of the art Recreation and Wellness Center on the Macon Campus.

Current students in Good Academic standing are eligible to take advantage of this facility and the programs that it provides.

Faculty and Staff may purchase a membership for $20.00 per month.

Community members may purchase a membership for $40.00 per month.

The membership includes access to the equipment, basketball courts, racquetball courts, group fitness classes, bowling, and the indoor swimming pool.

If you are interested in a membership, please contact us at (478) 471-3624 or stop by the Wellness Center any time during our Operating Hours to receive a tour of the facility and learn how to become a member.

Lockers For Day Use Only:
Lockers are available for daily use at the Wellness Center. Free lockers are subject to availability on a first come first serve basis.

*Please secure all personal items. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
You must bring your own lock. All locks are taken off at the end of each day.

MGA Softball and Baseball Fields

Middle Georgia State University's Macon Campus has two intramural fields located behind the old wellness center. Outside groups must call to reserve field space. Anyone not reserving field space through proper guidelines will be asked to leave immediately.

Tennis Courts

Tennis Courts

The Tennis Courts are located next to the gym of the Recreation & Wellness Center. There are 8 courts available to the students, faculty, staff, alumni and retirees of Middle Georgia State University.

Lights can be turned on with presenting of your MGA ID to security only. Lights out at 11:15pm nightly.


The outdoor walking/running track is located next to the tennis courts. 4 laps = 1 mile.

The indoor walking/running track is located on the second floor of the Wellness Center. 10 Laps = 1 mile.

Fitness Assessments

We will be conducting Free Fitness Assessments for students beginning Fall 2014.

Appointments may be made at the front desk of the Wellness Center or by contacting

Fitness Assessments will include the following:

  • Measurement of Height and Weight
  • Heart Rate measurements (Active and Resting)
  • Measurement of Waist Circumference
  • Blood Pressure Reading
  • Skin Fold (Calipers) Testing
  • Cardiovascular Fitness
  • Muscular strength and endurance
  • Flexibility
  • Partner Training - now available for interested students!
    • Partner training allows you to focus on fitness related improvements and learn valuable techniques and routines to incorporate into your workouts. You may sign up for Partner Training at the Wellness Center front desk during a date and time available.
