Graduate Technical Writing Programs

Middle Georgia State University now offers two fully online graduate programs in technical writing – our newly launched Master of Arts (M.A.) in Technical and Professional Writing and the 15-credit-hour Graduate Certificate in Technical Writing and Digital Communication.

Master of Arts in Technical and Professional Writing

Graduate Certificate in Technical Writing and Digital Communication

Fully Online in 8-week Sessions

The 30-credit-hour M.A. program includes ten courses; upon completion of the M.A., a graduate will earn both the master’s degree and the certificate for both credentials. The certificate itself can be taken as a stand-alone credential, whose completion conveniently provides eligibility the master’s program.*

*All prospective students must fill out the online application form for any program (including reapplication if required by the graduate Catalog) and must pay the $40 application fee, except in the month of November.

The Master of Arts in Technical Writing and Professional Communication will launch in the Fall of 2019. Applications will be accepted beginning June 3, 2019. Financial Aid is available for those who qualify.

Both programs complement and extend undergraduate training by developing skills in writing, editing, communication, and web development. These graduate credentials are interdisciplinary, including courses offered by the Department of English, the Department of Media, Culture, and the Arts, and the School of Information Technology, and are designed and taught by master teachers and highly experienced writers.

Working professionals, especially managers, find that today’s marketplace demands applicant skills that involve critical and complex thinking, in addition to a strong ability to communicate well, particularly using digital platforms.
