CV: | Work Email address: melva.jones@mga.edu Phone number (office):479-471-2874 Website if applicable: Education BSN:Albany State University MSN-Ed: Walden University DNP: Chamberlain University Statement of Teaching and research interests My philosophy of teaching nursing students is rooted in a passion for the nursing profession and a deep commitment to preparing the next generation of nurses for the challenges and opportunities of modern healthcare. Nursing is more than a career; it is a calling, and I believe that part of my role as an educator is to guide students in discovering their own pathway into this meaningful and dynamic profession. I strive to create a learning environment that is supportive, adaptive, and student-centered. Each learner comes with unique experiences, strengths, and challenges, and I see it as my responsibility to meet them where they are while inspiring them to reach their fullest potential. By fostering an atmosphere of respect and collaboration, I encourage teamwork and peer-to-peer learning, which not only enhances knowledge acquisition but also prepares students for the interprofessional collaboration essential in clinical practice. Developing confidence and critical thinking skills is central to my teaching approach. I believe that students learn best when they are actively engaged, challenged to think deeply, and supported in applying classroom concepts to real-world nursing situations. Through active learning strategies, case studies, simulation, and reflective practice, I guide students to analyze complex situations, make sound clinical judgments, and grow in their ability to advocate for patients. Ultimately, my goal is to cultivate compassionate, competent, and resilient nurses who are prepared to adapt in a constantly evolving healthcare landscape. I am committed to empowering students not only with knowledge and skills but also with confidence to lead, empathy to care, and the resilience to thrive in the nursing profession.
