Biography: | Valerie Mercer, Ed. D. is a seasoned technology leader and educator. She served as Chief Technology Officer for Monroe County Schools in Forsyth, Georgia for 12 years before retiring from K12 education. She served as a K12 technology leader for 23 years in Griffin-Spalding County Schools, Rockdale County Schools, and Butts County Schools in Georgia. She also served as Director of Teacher Quality and a professional learning coordinator as she coached teachers and administrators, and organized professional learning conferences, academies, and activities in Griffin-Spalding County Schools. Dr. Mercer began her career as a high school English teacher, and she is a former teacher of the year at Jackson High School in Jackson, Georgia. Dr. Mercer holds a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from Valdosta State University, a specialist degree in Instructional Technology/Library Media Services from Georgia State University, a master’s degree in Instructional Technology/Library Media Services from Georgia College and State University, and an English Education degree from the University of Georgia. Today, she serves as an Assistant Professor of Information Technology at Middle Georgia State University in Macon, Georgia, where she teaches courses in technology leadership, technology planning, digital ethics and legal issues, and technology research. |

Middle Georgia State University, Macon, GA— Assistant Professor of Information Technology January 2022 - PRESENT Skilled pedagogical practitioner providing instruction in bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and doctoral level courses. Coursework taught includes Legal and Ethical Issues in Information Technology, Information Technology Leadership and Strategic Planning, Project Management, Research Implementation and Evaluation.
