| Teaching and Research Interests: | Dr. Charlotte Miller is an Associate Professor of History at MGA. She completed her PhD at the University of Iowa, specializing in African and World History. Her research tends to focus on citizenship and immigration in Tanzania, though she welcomes diversions and enjoys tackling new, seemingly random ventures. At MGA, she often teaches survey-level courses in World and U.S. History as well as upper-level History courses that examine Africa, Colonialism, Religion, and Research Seminar. She also teaches for eCore within the larger University of Georgia System and has worked as an Advanced Placement Reader for the Educational Testing Service. |

TEACHING STATEMENT My teaching centers on building transferable skills and encouraging students to be active participants in the study of history. I support students as they develop research and writing skills by guiding them through the processes of formulating questions, finding and analyzing historical sources, and sharing their findings in writing, through other media, and public speaking. RESEARCH INTERESTS My research tends to focus on citizenship in East Africa, though I welcome diversions and enjoy tackling new, seemingly random ventures. |
