Teaching Philosophy

As a nurse educator, I strive to bridge scientific rigor with compassionate, student-centered learning. In the fundamentals lab, I emphasize safe practice, communication, and psychomotor skills through structured, reflective teaching. In OB/Pediatrics, I integrate simulation and case-based learning to help students connect theory with family-centered care. Guided by a commitment to excellence in skill development, integration of science and humanism, and cultivation of curiosity and scholarship, I prepare students to be competent practitioners, critical thinkers, and contributors to the advancement of nursing.

Research Interests and Scholarly Work

My research program focuses on autism and immunology, with particular emphasis on children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and immunological mechanisms such as folate-mediated immune reprogramming. I aim to develop evidence-based interventions that reduce neuroinflammation and improve health outcomes for this population. This work not only advances nursing science but also informs my teaching by providing students with contemporary examples of how research translates into practice. By linking fundamental nursing skills to ongoing scientific inquiry, I model for students how bedside observations can evolve into research questions and scholarly contributions that improve patient care and community health.
