Biography: | Nursing impacts patients, communities, and the healthcare world. Throughout my career as a nurse, nurse educator and nurse practitioner, I have had the pleasure of immersing myself in the progression of nursing. For two years, I gained experience as a labor and delivery nurse and for six years I worked to master cardiac nursing. Part of advancing the profession of nursing is mold the next generation of nursing; my interest is sharing my knowledge and skills with students, so they can practice with proficiency and confidence. I am dedicated to advancing nursing through instruction. I earned a Masters in Nursing Education and a certification as Family Nurse Practitioner. I hold a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) and an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Georgia. As an APRN I have provided diagnosis and management of chronic disease while also focusing on disease prevention and health promotion. My nursing education experience includes teaching Phlebotomy, Medical law & ethics, and a Medical assistant review course at Virginia College. I served as a clinical instructor for the last seven years in Medical Surgical, Fundamentals, Practicum and Women’s Health courses. I am a practicum mentor for students seeking an MSN. These experiences have given me exemplary knowledge of curriculum development, learner-centered education, and a plethora of teaching strategies. I recently completed a Doctorate of Nursing Practice, and I am eager to use the knowledge to benefit both my patients and students. As I stated previously, I have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. Teamwork and committees have made me effective in communication and interpersonal skills. Years of nursing have given me clinical expertise, and I continue to cultivate these skills. I am actively engaged in nursing scholarship and in service to the hospital and community. |
