Kenneth Huff and Neal Fischer, two Middle Georgia State College seniors, have launched a Kickstarter campaign to help them raise funds to construct a human-powered helicopter. Both are students on the aviation campus in Eastman.

Using $7,500 in previously obtained grants, the two have completed preliminary testing and analysis and are now ready to build the version of the helicopter they will fly. Huff and Fischer are building the helicopter for the Sikorsky Competition, which is open-ended with a prize of $250,000 to the first team that can build and fly a human-powered helicopter for 60 seconds, remain within a 10 square meter and achieve a height of 3 meters.

Huff and Fischer, who plan to have a public showing after they have completed their first successful flight, hope to raise $20,000 through Kickstarter, a funding platform for creative projects.
