College's Online IT Degree Ranked Nation's Most Affordable

Middle Georgia State College's online bachelor's degree in information technology has been ranked the nation's most affordable by the consumer information website GetEducated.com.

Get Educated’s “Best Buy” rankings reveal the 34 most affordable online bachelor's degree computer science options that are regionally accredited. (Middle Georgia State's online IT degree includes concentrations in information assurance and security; network technology and administration; software development; gaming design and development; and integrated digital media.)

"The primary goal of our excellent IT faculty is helping students succeed in our quality, accessible degree program," said Dr. Alex Koohang, dean of Middle Georgia State's School of Information Technology. “This ranking is another indication of the value of our IT degree, which is also accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology."

GetEducated.com's analysis gave the total sticker price of Middle Georgia State's online IT bachelor's degree at $18, 479. The average cost of an online bachelor's degree in computer science is $49,546. Rochester Institute of Technology has the most expensive online program at $91,560.

The ranking of affordable online degrees was calculated by reviewing and analyzing tuition and distance learning fees at 50 regionally accredited colleges in the U.S. that offer 94 online computer science bachelor degree programs.

To appear on any Get Educated Best Online Colleges list, the online degree profiled must objectively cost less than the average of all degrees reviewed in the comprehensive national survey. The survey covered a wide range of computer science majors, including information systems, applied technology and telecommunications.

GetEducated.com representatives said the list of affordable online computer science degrees is based on real data. The colleges do not pay to be included in any rankings or ratings list.
