An aspiring social worker, Pamela Williams wants to make life better for kids from troubled families.

Full Name:
Pamela Elizabeth Williams.

Family: Grandparents, Charles and Pamela Williams; mother, Charletta Mountain; and siblings, Jenardis Mountain and Jenicha Mountain.

Current Employment: Library assistant, Dublin Campus.

Degree Objective: Associate of science in social work; will transfer to complete a bachelor’s degree in social work.

Class Rank: Sophomore.

Primary Campus: Dublin.

Activities: Multicultural Club.

Career Goals: “I would like to be a social worker because of some life experiences I had that inspire me to want to help kids in abusive family situations.”

She chose Middle Georgia State College because ... “It is very convenient for me. My grandparents live in East Dublin and the Dublin campus is only 15 minutes away from the house. The campus has a homey feel that made me comfortable during the first day of classes. This campus is perfect for a student trying to save money while getting a great education. I made a great choice!”

The one thing that surprised her about Middle Georgia State was … “The people. There are a variety of people here representing different races, states and countries. To hear a British accent in the hallway was a surprise.”

Her favorite professor is ... “I love so many professors that this is a hard question to answer! But I’ll go with Rhonda Crombie. Even though I did better in some other classes than her British Lit class, she was still a nice instructor to listen to. She has the sweetest spirit. I loved reading short stories and discussing poems in class.”

Her favorite place to study is ... “The college library. It is quiet with a great wi-fi connection. It is convenient when I am stuck on homework because half of the time one of my peers from class is there and can help me. I enjoy meeting new students in library. I can’t study anywhere where there are kids or a TV is on, so the library is perfect.”

One thing people don't know about her is … “I volunteer every Monday and Wednesday at WINGS (Women in Need of God Shelter) shelter in Dublin. The shelter is for woman and/or children that have been abused. I started volunteering there in January 2013 because I needed hours for the Miss Georgia Plus America Pageant, but once that was over I realized I wanted to keep volunteering. What I do at the shelter is help kids with homework and activities.”

Her friends make fun of her because ... “I like to eat. I have been to every restaurant in Dublin.”

The one person she’d most like to meet is … “Jesus. I want to ask him a lot of questions because the Bible is very complex and broad. He could explain everything I want to know.”

Five years from now she sees herself … “Married, happy and establishing my career as a social worker.”
