Career Goals: “I want to be a financial advisor or consultant, because I enjoy helping people and I have a passion for finance and understanding and solving financial problems.”

He chose Middle Georgia State College because … “It is a school that is growing. I saw many opportunities here for growth in leadership that would have been much less accessible at a larger college or university. The school offered many different opportunities to get involved and lead through organizations like CAB, SGA, and the Accounting Association, which were a few that initially caught my attention. Another thing that attracted me was the accessibility of professors, faculty and staff. Middle Georgia State boasts of its highly accessible faculty and staff in the recruiting process, so I was definitely excited to hear that. Another factor in choosing a school to attend is location. Macon is far enough away from home for me to feel independent, but close enough that I can easily get home for the weekend.”

The one thing that surprised him about Middle Georgia State was … “Much of the campus shuts down early. Being from Valdosta, where VSU’s Odum Library is open until 2 a.m. and then coming to Macon, where the library closes at 10 p.m., was surprising.”

His favorite professor is … “Jonas Strecker. He taught my Freshman Year Experience course. I came into the class thinking, ‘Why do I need this?’ Throughout the course of my first semester of college, Mr. Strecker taught me why. When I was in his class, I felt like I was being taught and related to and not just lectured at. Every assignment he gave had a purpose, and part of the assignment was to figure it out most of the time. I feel like I have learned the most from Mr. Strecker since I’ve been here.”

His favorite place to study is … “The third floor of the Education Building. It is the most peaceful spot to study. I found it one day with one of my best friends as we were preparing for an upcoming exam. The large windows open up to an amazing view of the middle of the campus, when I need a mental break from my taxing studies.”

One thing people don’t know about him is … “I really enjoy ballroom dancing. One day I hope to master the quick-step, salsa, and the waltz and possibly perform one of those at my wedding. I watched one episode of Dancing with the Stars to see what all the hype was about and Mark Ballas performed the quick-step with Chelsea Kane to ‘Walking on Sunshine.’ I immediately fell in love with ballroom dancing.”

His friends make fun of him because … “I’m pretty vocal when I drive, and I express my feelings towards other drivers about their driving even though they can’t hear me. My friends always laugh at me for this, because I am vocal towards good and considerate drivers as well as the bad and inconsiderate drivers. I developed this trait from my mother, who taught me how to drive, and I have been since then doing this.”

The one person he’d most like to meet is … “Michael Jackson. He was an influential star. He was extremely talented and very humble for it. With everything he went through in his life, he remained positive. Michael Jackson produced real music. The music of today cannot compare to his. I want to meet him, because I’d like to experience that humbleness and positive outlook in a person of his importance. So many stars today are so self-centered and place themselves above society, and he didn’t.”

Five years from now he sees himself … “Working in accounting and finance, hopefully for a successful company like Wells Fargo. Finance is my true passion. I also see myself married or in a serious relationship. In five years, I should be in the middle of graduate school obtaining my MBA in finance. Tulane University has a very impressive MBA that I have been doing some research on. I would be blessed to be able to attend school there in the future.”
