MGA's Dr. Gerald Lucas is One of America's Most Social Media Savvy Profs

Dr. Gerald R. Lucas, professor of English at Middle Georgia State College, recently was named one of the "50 Most Social Media Savvy Professors in America" by the website OnlineColleges.net.

Lucas, who joined Middle Georgia State's faculty in 2002, uses a broad number of web 2.0 tools supporting and sharing both his professional musings and eclectic hobbies. Among the platforms he uses for teaching are Medium; Wordpress; Buddypress; Sensei; Moodle; Twitter; Tumblr; Google+; LinkedIn; Disqus; Dropbox and Google Drive. He teaches technocultural studies, writing and digital humanities. His areas of interest include speculative fiction, digital media, elearning, epic poetry, literary theory and modernism. In 2014 he was nominated for the University System of Georgia's Excellence Award for Online Teaching given by the Board of Regents.

Lucas earned his B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of South Florida, Tampa.
