Middle Georgia State on September 21-24 welcomes a visiting review team from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC).

SACS-COC is the regional body for the accreditation of degree-granting higher education institutions in the Southern states. SACS-COC accreditation is required of all institutions in the University System of Georgia.

The review team's visit is part of Middle Georgia State's regular cycle of seeking reaffirmation of its compliance with accreditation principles. Among other mandates, the team is charged with determining whether Middle Georgia State is in compliance with the core requirement that institutions develop an acceptable Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).

Middle Georgia State's QEP plan is called Experiential Learning@MGA. It was developed by faculty, staff, students and external stakeholders, and is based upon a comprehensive and thorough analysis of the effectiveness of the learning environment for supporting student learning and accomplishing the mission of the institution.

After completing its review, the visiting team will prepare a written report of its findings and make a recommendation to the Commission on Colleges regarding Middle Georgia State's accreditation status.
