Already working as an instructional paraprofessional, Myah Anderson is completing her education degree at MGA to become a full-time teacher. She is a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success and serves as a peer mentor to other education majors at MGA.

Employment: “I am currently a third-grade instructional paraprofessional at Porter Elementary School in Macon.”   

Degree Objective: Bachelor of Science in Elementary/Special Education.  

Class Rank: Senior.

Activities: “I am a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. I also serve as a peer mentor for MGA’s Department of Teacher Education and Social Work. While working at Porter Elementary, I am also completing my student teaching.” 

Career Goals: “I want to be a teacher because I love being in a learning environment. I have a passion for serving others, and I hope to utilize this passion in my future classroom. I hope to pave the way for every individual student, no matter how unique their journey is.”

She chose Middle Georgia State University because … “I wanted to stay in the area, and Middle Georgia State is highly thought of in the community.”

The greatest thing she discovered about Middle Georgia State was … “How supportive my advisors, instructors, and professors are. Having a team of professionals in your field of choice who are not just willing but eager to assist you in meeting your goals makes a positive impact on your confidence. Throughout my time here at MGA, I have had the opportunity to build lasting and memorable relationships with my peers. MGA has provided me the opportunity to embrace who I am as a person and future educator.” 

Her greatest academic experience as a Middle Georgia State student has been … “Making the President’s List throughout my time in the program. I also presented at MGA’s 2022 School of Arts & Letters Undergraduate Research Conference. My work consisted of presenting the effects of peer mentorship on teacher preparatory students.”  

To her, greatness means … “To be the best you can be. I believe it means learning from your mistakes and not giving up even when it seems impossible.”  

In five years … “I hope to see the world and experience its diversity. In my first five years after graduation, I see myself working as an elementary school teacher and completing my master’s degree. I hope to spend my days making a positive impact on society as a whole.”
