Processes

MGA curriculum changes follow this basic process.

  1. Faculty member creates a proposal in the Curriculum Management System
  2. Chair and Dean Approves the proposal
  3. Office of Academic Affairs provisionally approves
  4. Academic Affairs Committee discusses and approves
  5. Substantive Changes, such as a new program, a new minor, or a new degree need Faculty Senate approval as well

Until 2018 changes that affected general education courses also went through the MGA General Education Committee between steps 3 and 4. In 2018 the Senate Committees were reorganized, and coinciding with the USG announcing a redesign of the general education curriculum, the General Education Committee ceased regular activity until the redesign is complete. In the interim, curriculum changes, including changes that affect the core curriculum proceed through the Academic Affairs Committee and the Faculty Senate in their approval.
