Lost in the Tube

         Helpless. Pitiful. Discouraged. And disappointed. I sat on the bench near the wall
contemplating how I got lost. I thought about how bad it would affect my grade to miss my first
field trip. I looked to my left and saw aw an elderly woman coming down the steps with a cane.
She moved slow but she made her way to the bench to sit and wait on the next train. She looked
at me and smiled. This is uncommon for a Londoner, especially one well into her 70s. I told
myself if she could make it around in the Underground, so could I.

         I was so excited about attending the theatre in the bustling city of London. I had only
been there for four days and my first field trip had come up. This would be my first opportunity
to go to the theatre and see a professional production at Arcola Theatre in Dalston.

         The day had come and I was ready. I woke up that morning excited for what the day had
to offer. I showered and threw on a pair of joggers and a t-shirt, which seemed suitable for the
weather. The weather was still dewy but the sun was beginning to peek through the clouds. I
knew that the day would be a good one. I left Ramsey Hall’s eerie gates to go get lunch. I walked
down Maple Street two blocks and turned left on Hampstead Road. I had a strong taste for a
Subway sub. That selection was something familiar and I wouldn’t be unsatisfied eating it as
opposed to if I tried something new. After eating, I walked three more blocks to the
neighborhood Tesco to grab a few groceries. I didn’t want to stray too far and tire myself out
before the evening outing, so I headed back to the dorms to take my groceries and relax until
showtime.

         It was 5:30 p.m. and it was time for the class to meet downstairs in the courtyard. The
weather was warm but not humid and there was no expectation of rain. I wore a cute but simple
