with acceptable behavior. Role playing, sticker charts, reward systems, and educational advice
can all help the student with ADHD that so badly wants to learn to communicate. An educator
should point the child towards friends with common interests, encourage the child to be kind to
everyone, explain to the child that unkind words are not acceptable, and show the child that the
world is a wonderful place. With proper direction, a child’s self-esteem, ability to socially
interact on an acceptable level, and daily outlook on life will improve. The guidance of a teacher
may give the student the social skills that will carry them throughout their academic careers into
adulthood.
