Welcome
Welcome back to Knighted: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Undergraduate Research! This third
annual edition brings together student scholarship from a variety of disciplines, including
English, American and world history, business, and media studies, as well as creative work.
Knighted showcases the breadth and depth of undergraduate research at Middle Georgia State
University. The Council for Undergraduate Research says that student research should make
“an original intellectual or creative contribution to the discipline,” and we think that the promising
scholarship assembled in the pages that follow does just that. The scholars featured here
engage with topics ranging from classic literature to Muscogee Creek pottery and from 21st-
century television to ancient Chinese history. We continue to be impressed by these students'
intellectual and creative mastery and we hope you will be too!
