Introducing Graduate Programs
In our first year as a university, we launched two graduate programs - one in Nursing and one in Information Technology. Enrollment in
these programs was more than double our initial projections, with more than 70 students enrolled in the first year.
Perhaps most encouraging about that figure are the faces behind it. Of our new graduate students, some 80 percent are alumni of Middle
Georgia State, having earned either their associate or baccalaureate degrees here or at one of our predecessor institutions.
Among them is Sarah Hollifield, who graduated in 2015 with a B.S. in Information Technology. Having worked closely with our faculty as an
undergrad - developing a much-praised digital teaching tool and presenting at the HI TECH conference - she chose to go on to graduate
school at her alma mater.
Graduate Enrollment
In June 2015, our accreditors at the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools 80 72
Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) voted to officially grant us Level III status as a 60 47
master’s degree-granting university. Meanwhile, we gained Board of Regents support 40 25
for two more graduate programs - a Master of Arts in Teaching* and a Master of
Science in Management*. These programs will further enhance our ability to meet the 20
region’s demands for professionals with advanced degrees. 0
