Productive Academic Mindset is an engaging learning process teaching skills and motivating strategies to overcome challenges while building on a momentum to accomplish academic and career goals.
Sense of Belonging is found by establishing connections with peers and institutional clubs, departments, and organizations offering opportunities to participate and learn leadership skills.
Graduation is reaching the finish line by choosing purposefully and building a growth mindset with the guidance and support of academic and professional resources.
Make a purposeful choice!!
- Select a program (major) of study of interest to you
- Define your career interests
- Make sure your interest, passion, and skills align with your career
- Be familiar with the program of study (catalog: program map)
- If unsure of career choices, use Focus-2 Career Assessment to identify your path
Work with a productive academic mindset!!
- Work through challenges and do not give up
- You can do it with hard work and perseverance
- Learn from critical feedback
- Get inspired by success of other students
- Have confidence in your abilities
Establish a Sense of Belonging!!
- Find your place on campus
- Get involved in Clubs, Organizations, and campus events
- Know your peers in the program
- Engage with the faculty and your academic advisor
- Utilize the academic and non-acedemic resources available to you
Stay on track to graduation!!
- Take 15 credits per semester (15 to Finish); complete 30 credits every year
- Complete Area A Math and English in your first year
- Take a minimum of 9 credits in your major of study in the first year
- Meet with your advisor regularly
- Seek tutoring
