Middle Georgia State University has taught me so much. I've always loved learning and studying about different cultures and as a student in the History department at MGA, I was able to do exactly what I loved. Having the opportunity to participate in alumni events and now being an employee of one of the best universities in Georgia, MGA has helped me to achieve greatness!

My favorite class at Middle Georgia State University was Ms. Bell’s English 1101. Like many of the professors at Middle Georgia State University, Ms. Bell fosters a relationship with students. Ms. Bell taught me to become a hardworking student and encouraged me to achieve greatness.

Life hacks for incoming freshman:

My life hack for incoming freshman is to get involved. In college, I was involved in Student Government Association, Brother of Leadership & Distinction, Center for Career & Leadership Development and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Through these extracurricular opportunities, I established lifelong friendships that encouraged me to become the man I am today.

How has MGA helped you achieve greatness?

Middle Georgia State University helped me achieve greatness by providing me with strong mentors, supportive professors and most of all a career path that I love.

I love traveling! I studied abroad in Morocco during undergrad and I try to go on at least one trip a year if I can.

What did you used to want to be when you grew up?

When I was younger, I was convinced I would become a famous ballerina!

What talent do you wish you had?

Singing! I feel like I would never stop doing karaoke.

What was your favorite part about college?

Definitely joining student organizations and getting able to try new things! College was a great time for me to gain leadership skills, meet new people and get outside of my comfort zone. Getting involved on campus can really elevate your overall experience during college.

Take advantage of all of the student services offered to you! Go visit the Center for Career & Leadership Development, Writing Center and Student Success Center. They can help you with tutoring, finding internships, and preparing for interviews. Don’t wait until you’re an upperclassmen to utilize these services: start early!

You can either find me sitting in a lawn chair beside the lake or floating along the lazy river in the wellness center.

Fun Fact?

I played clarinet in the band in middle and high school for seven years. My favorite part about it was marching band. During my junior year, we participated in a Disney World parade by playing “Zippity-Doo-Dah” as we marched through Magic Kingdom. I hope to further use my musical talent to learn how to play guitar.

What did you used to want to be when you grew up?

I have always wanted to be a fashion designer and it may become a reality as I continue to learn how to sew.

What talent do you wish you had?

I wish I could break dance, krump, and step like the actors in one of my favorite movies: Stomp the Yard.

What was your favorite part about college?

My favorite part was finally discovering who I was by joining clubs and participating in events that catered to my interests: social justice, dance, and outdoor adventure--just to name a few. College really opened the door for me to pursue all of these interests at once.

Life hacks for incoming freshmen:

Talk to people! I think talking to your professors and classmates is something every student should do, but do not forget about custodians, dining hall staff, coworkers, etc. You can learn something from anyone and you never know who you will grow close to through those daily interactions. You may gain a lifelong friend or a family like I did.

My favorite class at Middle Georgia State was Private Pilot Flight Lab. You get to fly airplanes!

How has Middle Georgia State University helped you achieve greatness?

Middle Georgia State University opened the door for me to realize the dream of flight. At the age of 15, I flew for the first time at an airshow and have loved airplanes ever since. However, actually becoming a pilot seemed out of reach for me. Thanks to the School of Aviation at Middle Georgia State University, now I am pursuing my dream of flying airplanes.

What did you want to be when you were growing up?

When I was younger, I was convinced I would become a veterinarian because of my love for animals. As I grew older, my love for people surpassed my love of animals, and I knew I wanted to have a career where I could help others.

I wish I could play the piano.

My core classes! I came into college undecided and my core classes really helped me figure out what I liked and did not like.
