“No ma'am!” I thought as I thought about the possibility of getting lost again. I told her that I
would wait until they got there and sat down on the bench outside to catch my breath. I began to
people watch and listen to dialects. It was beautiful to hear the different conversations and terms.
I pat myself on the back and realized that I overcame one of my biggest obstacles in life that day.
I refused to accept defeat and still beat everyone to the show.
When my professor and classmates arrived, they all wanted to know more about my
experience. I told them that I didn’t want to take away from the play with my exciting story and I
would tell them after the show. I was exhausted after the play and went back to the dorms. They
made me promise to share my adventure in our class meeting. I hadn’t met a few of my
classmates, so this was an awesome first impression. It felt really great knowing that my courage
made such an impression. I was convinced that the summer would be an unforgettable
experience getting lost in the tube.
