O ne of seven children, Vivian Ellerbee

grew up in the country near Ashburn,
Ga., during the Great Depression years. At the
young age of 17, she moved away from home
to attend Macon Hospital School of Nursing,
thanks to generous tuition assistance from her
                beloved sister.
After graduation, she began her career on the
geriatric floors where she was known for provid-
ing exceptional care for her patients and showing
the highest standard of professionalism while
being very empathetic to their needs. After she
was married, she moved to Connecticut to begin
her family and continue a long, rewarding career
in nursing. Tolan Morgan / Biology

“When someone you love becomes a mem-
ory, that memory becomes a treasure. Vivian was
a treasure to so many in her lifetime and it is our
pleasure to award this scholarship in her honor.
Vivian will forever be a timeless treasure to
our family and we can think of no better way
to honor her memory than to present this
scholarship to a future nurse. There are not
enough words to describe how grateful we are for
everything nurses do in the healthcare industry.”
