Strategic Growth
New Facilities
In January, we opened a new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Wing in Oak Hall on the Warner Robins Campus. The
$5 million facility was made possible through the support of the University System of Georgia and the Georgia General Assembly.
Oak Hall was named after the live oak tree in front of that building. The live oak is not only the state tree of Georgia, it is also a symbol of
strength. The new STEM Wing strengthens our ability to provide science education in the region. With nearly 16,000 new square feet of study
space, including four state-of-the-art labs, plus a conference room, a study area, a seminar room, and a collaborative learning room, the
newest facility at Middle Georgia State will support both undergraduate and graduate programs key to meeting the demand for professionals
in healthcare.
In 2018, we also secured support for renovations in Cochran that will improve the student experience on our largest residential campus. The
design for those improvements will take place this year, with construction and equipment coming over the next two years. Also expected to
open in late 2020 is a new residence hall on the Macon Campus to accommodate the growing demand for undergraduate housing closer to
the Atlanta area.
Beyond state support for new facilities, through the generosity of the Peyton Anderson Foundation, we are halfway to the goal of raising
private funds to open a new Enrollment Services Center in Macon that will improve the enrollment experience across the university.
