What infection control precautions do you use at the Health Clinic?
The Middle Georgia State Health Clinic is sensitive to the issue of infection control and follows the standards set by OSHA and CDC. Our clinical staff wears new, disposable gloves with each patient as called for by the procedure. All clinical work surfaces are cleaned according to the schedule in the Exposure Control plan as mandated by OSHA. Reusable equipment is sterilized as appropriate. Disposable equipment is disposed of according to our Infection Control/Exposure Control Plan.
Who can use the Health Clinic?
Any currently enrolled student, that has paid the Health fee, at Middle Georgia State University is entitled to the services offered at the Health Clinic. Unfortunately, one exception are high school dual-enrolled students. Due to dual-enrolled students not paying student health fees, the health clinic is unable to see them. We recommend to follow up with their primary care provider.
Is health insurance required to use the Health Clinic?
No, MGA Health Clinics do not process any form of health insurance, including SHIP. Health-savings/flex-savings account funds cannot be utilized for clinic fees. Students may elect to pay cash or utilize a confidential transfer of student funds via Bursars office. Health Clinic is not accepting credit/debit card payments.
What kind of lab tests can I have done at the Health Center?
The Health Clinic offers a variety of laboratory testing, including, but not limited to, on-site glucose, pregnancy and urinalysis testing. There may be a small charge for testing done in the clinic and those sent to outside labs. In addition we may refer patients to local laboratory facilities for other laboratory request.
Is TB testing available?
TB skin testing is not currently offered in the Health Clinic, please contact your local health department, primary care provider, or refer to local health resources. You may also contact Macon Occupational Health Medicine 478.751.2900.
Can allergy shots be given at the Health Clinic?
Allergy shots are not administered in our campus health clinics. We recommend injections to be administered in a facility with on-site access to high acuity medical support in the event of any reaction. If you need assistance locating area health resources, we are happy to help.
