Mandatory Training

Authorized individual(s) who by definition are (individuals, paid or unpaid, who are authorized by MGA to have direct contact/interact with minors or assume care/supervision of minors) All Program/Activity Staff and Authorized Individuals must be trained on their responsibilities on issues related to minor safety, and security.

Third party sponsored events hosted on MGA campuses and properties can also utilize this training for their employee and/or volunteers who are Authorized Individuals.

All Program Administrators, Staff and Authorized Individuals must receive training on the following:

  1. Mandatory Reporting obligations, including child abuse awareness and prevention; and
  2. The University’s Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment Policy and the Board of Regents Sexual Misconduct Policy. 
  3. Code of Conduct for Program Staff

All MGA Authorized Individuals are required to complete the course below before they begin working with minors in a program.

  1. Complete the Protecting Youth: Abuse and Neglect Prevention Training (training link will be assigned in Vector)
    1. Certificate of Completion must be provided to Program Administrator.

Additionally, Program Administrators are responsible for developing program-specific trainings at a level appropriate to the program/activity; program-specific training must cover:

  1. Code of Conduct for Minor participants;
  2. Reporting requirements during the Program/Activity, processes, and contacts;
  3. Disability accommodations and review and evaluation of special requests;
  4. Safety and security protocols;
  5. First aid guidelines and medication management; and
  6. Activities, risks, and responsibilities of the Program/Activity, as applicable.

  1. Two-Adult Rule Guidelines: The Two-Adult Rule ensures the safety of both minors and Program/Activity Staff.  This document provides details for your Program/Activity on the Rule.
  2. Missing Minors Guide: This document provides instruction on steps to take if a minor is found to be missing from a program.
  3. Best Practices Guide: This guide is designed for minor’s program administrators and their staff to provide information on several key planning and operational areas.
