Middle Georgia State University’s Police Department is looking for new officers to work on our college campuses. Our residential campuses are in Macon, Cochran, and Eastman. The MGA police department is a POST designated police agency in the State of Georgia. Our officers are sworn law enforcement with full police powers and work within the jurisdiction of our campus community.

As an employee of Middle Georgia State, police officers are employees of the University System of Georgia and the State of Georgia. Some of the benefits our employees enjoy include:
- Starting Salary - $47,000 a year
- Benefits of the University System of Georgia (USG), which includes the 26 public universities and colleges in Georgia. USG benefits are attractive and can be found and explored here.
- Free tuition for employees after 6 months of employment at any USG institution – including master’s and doctoral degrees! Some restrictions apply for certain programs. Programs must not interfere with working hours. Learn more about the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) here.
- Teachers’ Retirement System of Georgia ( TRS ) pension plan - With vesting after 10 years.
- Sick leave – earn 8 hours of sick leave per month (96 hours per year).
- Vacation leave – earn 3 weeks/120 hours per year! Start off earning 10 hours a month for the first 5 years of employment—the equivalent of three full weeks of vacation. Employees begin accumulating vacation after the first month.
- Holidays – 13 paid holidays per year!

Our officers are engaged within a college community to protect students and keep them safe while furthering their education. We provide educational opportunities to all types of students at all levels – from dual enrolled high school students to those in doctoral programs.
